While we do our best to keep inventory updated and product details accurate, availability is not guaranteed. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue products at any time without prior notice. Descriptions, pricing, and images are subject to change without liability for any errors or omissions.

COTTAGE INDUSTRY PURCHASE AGREEMENT

Return & Exchange Policy

ALL SALES FINAL – EXCHANGE ONLY

We do not offer refunds. All items are sold as-is, in their current condition. The buyer assumes full responsibility for any future repairs, maintenance, or modifications.

By completing a purchase, the customer acknowledges and agrees to the terms of this policy.

EXCHANGE TERMS

• Postmark Deadline (Online Orders): Items must be postmarked within 7 calendar days of delivery.

• Return Condition: Items must be in original condition, carefully repackaged using professional-grade materials or services, and fully insured by the buyer.

• Restocking Fee: A 25% restocking fee will be deducted from any store credit issued.

• Buyer Responsibility: Buyer is responsible for all return shipping, packaging, and insurance costs.

The restocking fee is disclosed prior to purchase and agreed to as part of this policy.

WHERE TO EXCHANGE

• In-Store Purchases: Must be exchanged in person at our retail location.

• Online Purchases: May be exchanged in-store or by mail.

EXCHANGE PROCESS (ONLINE ORDERS)

1. Request Authorization: Email info@cottageindustry.com within 7 days of delivery. Include your order number, reason for exchange, and clear photos of the item.

2. Choose Exchange Method:

- Mail-In: Ship the approved return to:
    Cottage Industry
    2328 Fillmore Street
    San Francisco, CA 94115
    (Item must be professionally packed and insured.)

- In-Person: Bring the item to the store during business hours for inspection.

3. Inspection: Store credit is issued only if the item meets the condition and deadline criteria.

STORE CREDIT

• Valid for 30 calendar days from the date of issuance.

• Must be used in a single transaction.

• Store credit is non-transferable, not redeemable for cash, and does not qualify as a gift certificate under California law.

• Expired credit will not be reissued or extended.

Store credit must be used in a single transaction and will not be reissued if unused or expired.

IF A RETURN IS DENIED

If a returned item fails to meet this policy’s conditions (damaged, incomplete, late), no credit will be issued. The customer may:

• Retrieve the item in person within 14 days of notification, or

• Arrange return shipping at their expense.

If the item is not claimed within 14 days, it will be considered abandoned.

UNCLAIMED PICKUP & STORAGE POLICY

Purchased items must be picked up within 14 calendar days. After that:

• A storage fee of $125 per day per item, or

• $50 per square foot per day, whichever is greater, will apply starting on day 15.

If the item is not picked up within 30 days, it will be deemed abandoned and may be resold, donated, or disposed of at Cottage Industry’s discretion.

Customer acknowledges that Cottage Industry is a retail showroom, not a storage facility, and agrees to these terms upon purchase.

HANDMADE PRODUCT VARIATION DISCLAIMER

By purchasing, you acknowledge that:

• All products that are handmade may include natural variations in color, size, finish, texture, and form.

• All listed dimensions are approximate and may vary slightly.

• Product photos may differ from actual items due to lighting, monitor settings, and pigment aging.

• Minor imperfections or asymmetries are inherent to handmade goods and are not considered defects.

Customer accepts these natural characteristics as inherent to the item and not grounds for return, refund, or exchange.

LEGAL AGREEMENT & LIMITATIONS

• By purchasing, the customer agrees to all terms in this policy.

• The customer agrees not to initiate chargebacks or payment reversals; all disputes must be resolved directly with Cottage Industry.

• This policy constitutes a binding legal agreement between the buyer and Cottage Industry.

• Cottage Industry is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss or dissatisfaction due to natural product variations.

• Risk of loss remains with the buyer until a returned item is received and accepted.

• Final Sale items are not eligible for exchange.

• This policy is subject to change without notice. Terms in effect at time of purchase apply.

• Governed by the laws of the State of California. Venue for disputes is San Francisco County.

• Cottage Industry is not responsible for loss or damage caused by third-party shippers or delivery services once the item has left our custody.

• Cottage Industry shall not be liable for failure to perform due to acts of God, natural disasters, government actions, or other events beyond its control.

• In any legal action arising from this agreement, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover reasonable attorney’s fees and costs.

SPECIAL OR OVERSIZED ITEM POLICY

Certain items—such as large-scale artwork, grouped installations, exceptionally high-value items (e.g., fine art, gemstones), or objects requiring specialized handling—may be designated as Special or Oversized Items at the time of purchase.

These purchases are subject to the following:

• Must be picked up within 14 calendar days.

• If not picked up, a daily storage fee of $125 per square foot will apply beginning on day 15.

• Cottage Industry will provide a Special Item Pickup Agreement at the time of sale. This signed agreement is required for all purchases of Special or Oversized Items, and outlines storage, security, and liability terms specific to the item(s).

• This includes any artwork, jewelry, or merchandise of exceptional value, scale, or fragility, where special insurance, handling, or security arrangements are necessary.

If not retrieved within 30 days, the item is considered abandoned.

In the event no agreement is signed, Cottage Industry’s standard pickup terms and fees still apply.
